Debunking the myth...

A friend from church queried the use of me having done a theology degree the other day...but I said I was putting it to good use!  I am happy to pretend to be the Easter Bunny...because the children all really know it's me!! (Also because I get to dress up again, but that's another thing entirely...)
Previous to my appearance at the fabled creature, 'he' appeared as a non-speaking, rather scary-masked animal who probably terrified more children than anything else.  So - my participation is purely to prove that 'he' doesn't really exist!

In other news...I led the Good Friday service last night - not dressed as above of course...and I think it went well - but let's just say I'm never using candles again!  Not that I burnt the church down or set fire to anything...that being the problem in itself.  I was using nine tealights to represent the light of the world being extinguised.  First of all I ended up using 3 matches to try and light them - in front of a church full of people - with all their eyes on me...not the smoothest of procedures, then one refused to light.  Then the end of one of the matches fell off into the tealight holder - which then caught fire when I tried to relight the candle.  I then watched as the flame in the tealight holder got bigger and bigger...and got more and more worried as I anticipated what could happen.  Decided to move the offending candle nearer to me to sort out the issue, but managed to put that, and another candle out in trying to relight it...(this is NOT funny...really it's not - it just sounds it!) Finally got them all alight and hoped my first reader would take the offending candle that was still burning madly and blow it out as per arrangements - no...she took a perfectly well behaved candle and blew that out instead! Got the second volunteer to take it though and thought my problems were over.

And relax...

Nope - fat chance!  Three more volunteers in and I notice that one of the candles has extinguished itself!!! Had to get my last but one to take it by suggestion as I needed one final one alight for the final reading.  So much for never work with animals or children - I AM NEVER WORKING WITH CANDLES AGAIN!!!

Just heard someone thought it was really poignant...phew...
