Placement News #01

Way back in the middle of last term I was sitting in the weekly block placement presentation session, where students share what they've been doing. This can be a bit of a daunting process at times - How do you squash 6 weeks of experiences into 25 minutes and cover all the expected elements required by the course as it's assessed by two tutors as well as attended by the majority of students?!

This particular afternoon I was listening to a student share about his time on placement in South America and I suddenly felt drawn to explore the possibility of doing my placement abroad in a non-Western context, as, so far my previous two block placements have been in Brisbane, Australia and Cheltenham. Having spent both of these placements working with churches I had already decided that I didn't want to work with a church, but I had almost resigned myself to staying in the UK for the third year placement.

So...I've been doing some thinking - I've had a look around at possibilities with different charities and organisations and met with Rosemary, the placement co-ordinator at Redcliffe, I've sent off a couple of e-mails and when things are a bit more certain I'll let you know where I'm off to this summer...
